Golf Transfers

In our latest article, we look at the importance of a specialist in chauffeur driven golf transfers. For golfers travelling to the UK, the North West of England is one of the most exciting destinations in the world. Within a relatively small area sit some of the most celebrated courses in the game – Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale, Formby, Hillside and Royal Lytham & St Annes. For visiting golfers, especially those travelling from overseas, the opportunity to play several of these courses across a few days is a dream golf itinerary.

However while planning tee times is often the enjoyable part, organising transport between airports, hotels and courses quickly becomes more complicated than many groups expect.

That is where professional golf transfers can make the entire experience far smoother.

When Golf Travel Becomes a Logistical Puzzle

Golf groups travelling to the region often arrive through Manchester Airport, bringing with them suitcases, golf bags and carefully planned itineraries.

A typical golf trip might involve four or five rounds across several courses over a number of days. While the distances between courses may not look large on a map, coordinating transport for an entire group can quickly become challenging.

Sixteen golfers, for example, often means:

  • 16 passengers
  • 16 golf bags
  • 16 suitcases
  • transfers between airport, hotel and courses each day

Hiring multiple cars or relying on taxis rarely works smoothly. This is why many golf tour operators and travelling groups now rely on chauffeur-driven transport to manage the entire journey.

When the Journey Is Part of the Golf Trip

Earlier this year, a group of sixteen golfers from the United States arrived in Manchester for a four-day golf trip across some of the region’s most famous courses.

Their itinerary included:

  • Royal Liverpool Golf Club on day one
  • Royal Birkdale on day two
  • Royal Lytham & St Annes on day three
  • The Belfry on the final day down near Birmingham

With luggage, equipment and daily travel between courses and their Manchester hotel, the group quickly realised that organising transport themselves would be difficult.

Instead, they arranged a dedicated chauffeur transfer service for the entire trip.

Each morning a vehicle arrived to collect the group and transport them to the course. After the round, they were driven back to the hotel or restaurant, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the experience.

“The biggest difference was that nobody had to think about the logistics,” one member of the group later commented. “We could focus entirely on the golf.”

Designed for Golf Travel

Transporting golfers requires more than simply moving passengers from one location to another. Golf bags take up significant space, and larger groups often require vehicles capable of carrying both people and equipment comfortably.

Pelorus Chauffeurs operates vehicles ranging from Mercedes-Benz V-Class vehicles for smaller groups through to 16-seater executive vehicles and larger coaches for bigger parties. This flexibility allows the company to support everything from a four-ball travelling together to large international golf tours.

For golf tour operators organising trips across the UK, having a reliable transport partner can make a significant difference.

Supporting Golf Societies and Local Trips

Golf transfers are not limited to international visitors. Many UK-based golf societies and clubs also use chauffeur transport when travelling for away days or special events.

Recently, a group of 24 golfers from Southport arranged a coach transfer for a trip to Penant Park Golf Club in North Wales, where they were playing 36 holes in one day.

Rather than organising several cars or asking members to drive themselves, the society travelled together in a coach. “It meant everyone could relax,” one organiser explained. “After 36 holes we were all ready for a drink on the way home and nobody had to worry about driving.”

A Practical Alternative to Overnight Trips

Chauffeur golf transfers can also make sense financially. A group of four friends recently planned a golf day travelling from Manchester to Celtic Manor in Wales. Initially they considered staying overnight after the round but once hotel costs were added, the trip quickly became expensive.

Four rooms would have cost around £229 each, pushing the total well beyond the price of simply travelling home.

Instead, they arranged a chauffeur-driven vehicle for the day. The return journey cost £550 in total, allowing them to enjoy dinner and drinks after their round without worrying about the drive back.

“It turned what could have been a tiring journey into part of the day,” one of them explained.

Making Golf Trips Simpler

For golf groups travelling across the UK, the game itself should always be the focus.

Professional chauffeur transfers remove the logistical complications that often accompany multi-course golf trips. From airport collections to daily course transfers, the entire journey can be handled by a dedicated transport service.

Whether travelling from overseas, organising a society trip or simply planning a day’s golf with friends, reliable transport ensures the experience remains relaxed from the first tee to the final putt.
